Galway, having accounted for Tipperary in the semi-final, had just too much for Waterford in the 2018 After School Hurling League Final. Played in glorious, sweltering conditions the Tribesmen came out on top on a scoreline of 5-04 to 2-02.
Galway, netting three-pointers at vital stages, laid the foundations for victory with a strong finish to the first half. At the finish it was the hat-trick of goals by ace forward Patrick Keating, complemented by great strikes from Sean Galligan and Gabriel Stokes, that made the difference. In their previous match Waterford had been taken all the way to extra time by a gallant Kilkenny side. Though they competed heroically to the final whistle their effort fell short. Hurling was the real winner on the day, the skills on display testament to all the practise put in by the boys since Christmas. Well done to everybody involved.
